Diamonds in the Ruff

Finding loving homes for our overlooked dogs and cats

Meet Portia

Get to know the Diamond

Portia was found under a porch (hence her name) with her babies and taken in by a kind person. Once her babies were old enough, they found homes of their own. Portia was going to stay with her finders, but they had to move and couldn't take her along. This poor kitty has found herself homeless for a second time.

After so many changes Portia can be shy at first. It has taken her some time to settle into shelter life, but her personality is beginning to shine through. She enjoys head pets and will happily nuzzle into your hand. She will let you know when she is done with a gentle nibble. She enjoys her toys as well, but has only started exploring her playtime options here, so her favorite toys are yet to be discovered.

Other cats used to stress her out, but she has learned to happily coexist with other cats who will respect her space. Little dogs have also been a none-issue, although we haven't seen her with larger dogs yet. She would love a quiet home where she can relax and finally figure out who she is when she isn't a stray or a mama cat.
